- Pope’s visit disrupted (August 26, 2010)
Companies offering banner printing in East Kilbride or other areas around Glasgow could find themselves in the middle of a bitter dispute as plans to disrupt the Pope’s visit to the city have come to light. Unions are currently locked in a dispute with Glasgow Life, formerly Culture and Sport Glasgow, that runs Glasgow’s museums and sport centres in the area. It has been discussed that one proposal that unions are considering to highlight their point of view is to print and tie a banner to a light aeroplane hired for the day with the message that the Pope supports their striking workers. Unions have said that they are already looking to discuss with the Civil Aviation Authority any airspace bans that might be in place on the day of the Pope’s visit in September.
- Postcards inspire campaign (July 22, 2010)
The environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy has taken inspiration from cheeky 1970s style seaside postcards for their latest creative execution. To persuade people to put their litter in the bin, the charity’s creative agency, Inferno, has come up with the saucy postcard-inspired execution which will be seen running across outdoor advertising poster sites, in local communities on posters and on bus sides.
- Flexible service and a fair price (July 13, 2010)
The whole business of printing – whether it’s information leaflets or company stationery – can sometimes seem an expensive hassle that devours time and money in an equal measure.
- Erskine Schoolgirl wins poster competition (June 10, 2010)
In a very stylised and artistic effort, 13 year old Morven Donald from Erskine won the competition with her drawing of a man wearing spectacles seen hollering through a loudhailer. Morven’s strong image is vibrant and colourful and it was felt that her poster reflected energy and the spirit of the Fringe itself. The Edinburgh Fringe Festival is the World’s largest arts festival and was set up in 1947 as an alternative to the Edinburgh International Festival and takes place in August every year over a period of three weeks. The Fringe Festival brings thousands to Edinburgh every year to view performances from theatre, comedy, dance and music. The full 2010 Edinburgh Fringe programme will be launched during week commencing the 7th June and is sure to be as popular as other years.

The literary magazine circulates around 320,000 copies each year and was first launched in 2004. The magazine is a literary heavyweight, like their English equivalents such as The Times Literary Supplement or The London Review of Books.

- Litho or digital decision for Scottish print company (December 10, 2009)
There has been much recent advancement in digital printing, but investing in digital kit may not be the way to go for all printing companies. Let’s for example, consider a printing company in East Kilbride who are involved with printing magazines and brochures, which need to make decisions about investing in new machinery. Clearly, the type of print work which the company handles will play a large part in any investment decisions. However, it may be useful for such a company to consider the decision made by Glasgow based Cowan Print.
